Venezuela Trip Extensions

These add-on services can be
used to extend most of our scheduled Venezula trips and may be added
before or after your main program. They also can be used as ideas
for developing segments of a private
adventure. All extensions require a minimum of 2 participants.
We suggest placing deposits for extensions at least 2 to 3 months
prior to your trip as reservations for hotels, guides and services
are not made until deposits are received.
HATO EL
CEDRAL
4 days/3 nights from Caracas, offered year-round Located in the heart of Venezuela's seasonally flooded plains, or llanos, El Cedral Ranch and the private Matiyure Reserve feature some of the finest bird and wildlife viewing in South America. A comfortable lodge is your base for two full days of guided nature hikes, motor-canoe trips, and horseback or jeep excursions. Activities and excursions are led by English-speaking resident naturalist guides and focus on observing wildlife — more than 300 species of birds, hundreds of caiman and capybara, lizards, deer, howler monkeys and more. Accommodations include private baths and air conditioning. CANAIMA CAMP
3 days/2 nights from Caracas, offered year-round Situated on the shores of the Carrao River across from Hacha Falls deep within the Gran Sabana, Canaima Camp is surrounded by luxuriant tropical beauty, sparkling waterfalls and impressive tepuis. Group activities, with other guests from the lodge, include curiara trips (motorized native-style canoes) to various falls (Yuri and El Sapo) and areas of spectacular beauty. With colored birds, such as macaws, toucans, parrots and more, this is an ideal extension for relaxing in an exotic, tropical environment. Accommodations are in comfortable rooms with private baths. An overflight of Angel Falls is included, only if weather permits. MERIDA
4 days/3 nights from Caracas, offered year-round Located in the heart of the Venezuelan Andes, Mérida is the perfect base for exploring this beautiful, mountainous region. This extension includes a half day of hiking in Sierra Nevada National Park, a tour of the city, and a full day visit to the Páramo region, at the foot of the Northern Andes, with a hike near Laguna Negra, and a visit to the Condor Biological station. Accommodations are at the Belensate Hotel, the most comfortable in town. MORROCOY NATIONAL
PARK
3 days/2 nights from Caracas, offered year-round Located in the middle of the world's longest Caribbean coast, this national park was designated in 1974 to protect its many marine wonders. Morrocoy offers excellent snorkeling at pristine sites, such as Cayo Norte, with hundreds of colorful reef fish — angelfish, parrotfish, damselfish, and more. Along its white sand beaches, with turquoise waters, birders can spot dozens of brilliantly-plumaged scarlet ibises and frigatebirds, with their inflated red pouches. Accommodations are at the family-style Finca Campo Lindo. LOS ROQUES NATIONAL
PARK
3 days/2 night from Caracas, offered year-round One of the largest marine national parks in the Caribbean, Los Roques offers exceptionally beautiful white sand beaches and warm crystalline waters. Consisting of 50 islands, islets and keys, the archipelago surrounds a lagoon occupied by mangroves and coral formations, providing outstanding snorkeling. Accommodations are in small, but comfortable and cozy, Posadas, in private rooms with private baths. |
