At least half of Southwind's guests choose a custom adventure. It can be as simple as adding a few days at the beginning or end of a scheduled departure to explore a city in depth, or as complex as combining disparate destinations and activities completely tailored to your preferences. A private adventure for a few friends. An organized tour for a business, club, student or museum group. An expedition with fellow enthusiasts. We have the knowledge, expertise, contacts and guides in place to organize and run it seamlessly for you. With all the details taken care of, you can turn your attention to having fun, learning and adventure!

Many of Southwind's private trips require a minimum of 4 participants due to tour logistics, especially in remote regions such as Patagonia and Venezuela's Gran Sabana. However, arrangements for as few as 2 participants can be made in Peru, Ecuador, Brazil and Bolivia (subject to travel dates, advance planning required). Our custom adventures have a minimum length of 8 days and are priced as complete land tour packages including: first-class accommodations, professionally guided tours, entrance fees, most meals, airport transfers and private vehicle transportation. Southwind does not provide an itemized trip cost breakdown; we can quote extra services based on extension packages or hotel upgrades. Trips containing only partial services are not available.

After a discussion of your interests, needs and preferences, a Southwind travel specialist will send you an initial proposal and Land Cost estimate. The next step is an outline itinerary and price quote for which there is a non-refundable $300 custom itinerary design fee (provides for a maximum of 3 itineraries). The design fee counts towards your Land Cost and is deducted on your invoice. Private trips may have special terms and conditions that differ from those listed on our website and will be indicated in your outline itinerary. Southwind finalizes trips 60-90 days in advance, so it is important to plan well in advance for best availability of accommodations, guides and airfare.
