Monasterio Hotel

Cusco, Peru

Built in 1592 on the site of the Inca Amaru Qhala Palace, the original monastery was given the seal of royal approval in 1692 as the San Antonio Abad Seminary and was converted into Cusco’s best and most delightful 5-star hotel in 1995.

Only two blocks from Cusco’s main square, the Monasterio Hotel, part of the luxurious Belmond chain, features 109 guest rooms, 12 junior suites, 1 deleuxe suite, 2 royal suites and 3 presidential suites all decorated in a tasteful combination of colonial and modern styles. Guests also have the unique option of oxygen-enriched rooms to help adjust to Cusco’s high altitude. Rooms include multiple telephones, central heating, minibar, personal in-room electronic safe, cable TV, and hair dryer. Laundry and room service are available 24-hours a day.

The Illariy Restaurant, adjacent to the main courtyard, is open for lunch and dinner. It is decorated with paintings from the ancient Cusco seminary and is the ideal place to enjoy a light meal or snack and a gourmet dinner. The charming El Tupay Restaurant features the hotel’s well-known buffet breakfast and Saturday evening Inca Dinners. Set in the original refectory of the ancient monastery the service in this ambiance is warm and friendly. As the Monasterio was originally a seminary, please note that size of rooms may vary.
