Trip Itinerary


DAY 1: DEPART USA
Take an overnight flight to Bolivia’s altiplano capital, La Paz.

DAY 2: LA PAZ
Arrival, get oriented and acclimated in the world’s highest altitude capital city.

DAY 3: TIAHUANACO / HUATAJATA
Stop at the pre-Columbian ruins of Tiahuanaco en route to a lakeside resort near the village of Huatajata.

DAY 4: LAKE TITICACA / COPACABANA
Navigate Lake Titicaca, journeying to Islands of the Moon and Sun, stay in the lake town of Copacabana.

DAY 5: COPACABANA / PUNO
Cross the border from Bolivia to Peru, and visit Charca peninsula, Chucuito, and the floating Uros Islands.

DAY 6: PUNO / CUSCO
Follow a scenic overland route from Puno to Cusco, seat of the Incan Empire.

DAY 7: CUSCO
Exploration of this great colonial city and its surrounding archaeological sites.

DAY 8: CHINCHERO
Enter the Sacred Valley through a weekly traditional market in Chinchero.

DAY 9: SACRED VALLEY
Visit the Andean towns of Pisac and Ollantaytambo.

DAY 10: MACHU PICCHU
Catch the Vistadome train for a ride to Machu Picchu, begin exploring the Inca citadel.

DAY 11: MACHU PICCHU / CUSCO
Continue touring Machu Picchu and nearby sites on foot, return to Cusco for the night.

DAY 12: CUSCO / LIMA / USA
Flight from Cusco to Lima, tour the colonial city and catch an overnight flight home.

Make your onward connections home.

SUCRE, BOLIVIA
Length: 3 Days/2 Nights from La Paz

For those in need of more acclimatization, we recommend the colonial city of Sucre. Renowned for its lovely whitewashed facades and pleasant climate, Sucre is a fun and peaceful slice of traditional life in Bolivia.
AMAZON LODGES
Length: 4 Days/3 Nights from Cusco or Lima
Season: April to December
Families and travelers with limited time, who want a taste of the Amazon Basin rainforests, will enjoy the Reserva Amazonica or Sandoval Lake lodges, 45 min by motor boat from Puerto Maldonado.
AREQUIPA AND COLCA CANYON

Introduction: Twice as deep as the Grand Canyon, Colca in southern Peru is one of the deepest canyons in the world. Since its walls are not as vertical, the valley is filled with small towns that preserve their ancestral traditions.
