Travel Consultant & Marketing

Description:

We are looking for a personable, organized and experienced Travel Consultant to join our team of travel professionals who enjoy sharing the wonders of South America with our discerning and adventurous clientele. Travel Consultants are in contact with travelers from first inquiry to post-trip evaluation, so we are looking for someone who can build long-term client relationships. Responsibilities include; Tour Consulting & Sales: answering requests, promoting trips, coordinating custom itineraries, follow-up with prospects, outreach efforts, air arrangements, sales literature updates, presentations and trade shows. Marketing: development, coordination, and successful execution of marketing strategies. The goal is to increase Southwind’s sales through upscale market presence and industry-wide recognition with online marketing, media relations and alumni referrals. Customer Service: managing guest files from beginning to end, professional and timely client correspondence, troubleshooting unexpected issues and trip evaluation.

Requirements:

  • College degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Recreation Management, or related field
  • Must have a minimum of 2-3 years of recent and successful Travel Consulting, Marketing & Sales experience in the US (US & Canada clientele) in the Adventure Travel or Ecotourism field. Group Sales experience a plus.
  • Advanced computer skills with proficiency in MS Windows-based applications (Word, Access, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Experience with upscale clientele or Travel Agencies a plus
  • Well organized, accurate with numbers and strict attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines under pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Motivated, self-starter, goal and service oriented
  • Enthusiastic and friendly personality with a high energy level
  • Must have lived or traveled extensively in South America. Knowledge of Spanish or Portuguese is a plus!
  • Nature and outdoor oriented (hiking, camping, rafting, biking experience highly recommended)

Benefits:

  • A comfortable, non-smoking office in south Denver adjacent to an Open space (Centennial), well located for easy access to the mountains and downtown Denver
  • Travel to South or Central America for periods of up to 3 weeks, once per year
  • Paid training/trial period of 1 month
  • Ability to gain knowledge about the expanding Adventure Travel industry
  • Hours & Salary: Minimum 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm preferred.
    Potential to earn $37,000+ first year based on salary, commissions and negotiable benefits package
