Travel Consultant and Sales Position - Cusco, Peru

Southwind Adventures’ exclusive partner based in Cusco, Trekperu, specializes in nature, cultural and adventure tours throughout Peru. Description:

We are looking for a personable, organized and experienced Travel Consultant to join our growing team of travel professionals that enjoy sharing the wonders of Peru with our discerning and adventurous clientele worldwide. Travel Consultants are in contact with travelers from first inquiry to post-trip evaluation, so we are looking for someone that can build long-term client relationships. Responsibilities include: Tour Consulting and Sales, answering requests (by email, phone, fax or mail), promoting trips, elaborating custom itineraries, follow-up with prospects, outreach efforts, airline arrangements, sales literature updates, presentations and trade shows. Customer Service: managing guest files from beginning to end, professional and timely client correspondence, troubleshooting unexpected issues, and trip evaluation.

Requirements:

• College or technical degree in Sales, Marketing, Tourism, Recreation Management, or related field
• English as first language (Knowledge of Spanish is a plus!)
• Cusco resident (willing to relocate from other cities in Peru or another country in South America)
• Minimum 2-3 years of recent & successful experience in Sales & the Travel industry in South America
• Knowledge of main tour destinations & activities in Peru & other countries in South America (Ecuador, Chile, Argentina, Brazil)
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, writing, reading)
• Enthusiastic and friendly personality with a high energy level
• Good computer skills with a proficiency in MS Windows-based applications
• Well organized, accurate with numbers and strict attention to detail
• Motivated, self-starter, goal and service oriented
• Nature & outdoor oriented (hiking, camping, biking, rafting, natural history, etc)

Benefits:

• A comfortable, non-smoking office in Huanchac, Cusco, well located for easy access to the mountains and downtown Cusco
• Travel inside Peru & South America for periods of up to 2-3 weeks, 1-2 times per year
• Paid training/trial period of 1 month
• An initial 1-2 year contract will be offered to the right candidate
• Ability to gain knowledge about the expanding Adventure Travel industry
• Hours: Minimum 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm preferred
