Marketing & Sales Position

Southwind Adventures specializes in nature, cultural and adventure tours throughout South America. We are a well-known US Tour Operator promoting first-class and luxury trips exclusively in South America. Ecotourism/Adventure Travel is one of the most exciting segments of the travel industry. Southwind is well-established and recognized in this field with 20 years of quality service. The company is a Gold Star member in good standing with the Better Business Bureau. We are looking for a person that knows & loves Latin America and is interested in an excellent career opportunity, a permanent position, and a desire to grow with our organization.

Job Description: We are looking for a personable, enthusiastic, organized and experienced Marketing specialist to join our growing team of travel professionals that enjoy sharing the wonders of South America with our discerning and adventurous clientele. Responsibilities include: development, coordination, and successful execution of marketing strategies. The goal is to increase Southwind’s upscale market presence, sales and industry-wide recognition through online marketing, media relations and alumni referrals. Duties also include website improvements, email broadcasts, coordination with Southwind Travel Consultants, marketing outreach efforts, trade shows, and sales literature updates.

Requirements:

  • College degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent and successful Marketing & Sales experience in this country (USA & Canada clientele) in the Adventure Travel or Ecotourism field. Group Sales experience a plus.
  • Advanced computer skills with a proficiency in MS Windows-based applications (Word, Access, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Experience marketing to high-end clientele, Corporations and Travel Agencies a plus
  • Well organized, accurate with numbers and strict attention to details
  • Ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines under pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Motivated, self-starter, goal and service oriented
  • Enthusiastic, outgoing and friendly personality with a high energy level
  • Must have lived or traveled in South America. Knowledge of Spanish or Portuguese is a plus!
  • Nature and outdoor oriented (hiking, camping, rafting, biking experience highly recommended)

Benefits:

  • A comfortable, non-smoking office in south Denver adjacent to an Open space (Centennial), well located for easy access to the mountains and downtown Denver
  • Travel to South America for periods of up to 3 weeks, once or twice per year
  • Paid training/trial period of 1 month
  • Ability to gain knowledge about the expanding Adventure Travel industry
  • Hours & Salary: Minimum 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm preferred. Potential to earn $45,000+ first year based on salary, commissions and negotiable benefits package.
